Viral whole-genome sequencing (WGS) involves sequencing the entire genome of a virus of a known reference (re-sequencing) or an unknown (de novo sequencing). Accurate Viral WGS information is critical for detecting low frequency mutations, finding key deletions and insertions, and discovering genetic changes among microbial strains.
