Summary: The University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) has launched the war room against coronavirus in KwaZulu-Natal. This is an initiative lead by the School of Public Health and Nursing with many stakeholders, including KRISP, the School of Clinical Medicine and the NHLS. KRISP has worked on the production of bioinformatics software to analyze coronavirus genomes and has participated in other university wide initiatives to educate and prevent coronavirus outbreaks at UKZN and Durban area.
KRISP has been created by the coordinated effort of the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN), the Technology Innovation Agency (TIA) and the South African Medical Research Countil (SAMRC).
