We have purchased many Illumina machines to be able to produce DNA sequences in Africa so samples do not leave the continent. Prof. Tulio de Oliveira (director of KRISP) discuss facilitating access to MiSeq, NextSeq and HiSeq in Africa for collaborative research.
KRISP has been created by the coordinated effort of the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN), the Technology Innovation Agency (TIA) and the South African Medical Research Countil (SAMRC).
