KRISP team attended the 3rd SPARK GLOBAL meeting, which took place in Berlin, 21 and 22 July 2018. We have been inspired by this meeting and we are working with SPARK GLOBAL partners to replicate their successful model in South Africa
As part of this effort, we run the Durban SPARK Innovation breakfast meeting, which happens at the first Wednesday of the month. In this meeting academics, government, industry and the social society meet in order to develop solutions for global health.
The SPARK model for translational research has proven to be a successful paradigm which can be replicated at other academic institutions as a cost-effective way to facilitate development of research discoveries into novel therapeutics or diagnostics.
SPARK GLOBAL has created a network of like-minded scientists in academia that can be recruited quickly to address global health challenges when they arise.
